Atorvastatin

An HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that lowers LDL cholesterol and reduces cardiovascular risk.

Atorvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol synthesis, significantly lowering LDL and triglycerides while modestly raising HDL. It is first-line for primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular events.
