Boundaries

Professional boundaries are the limits that keep the nurse-client relationship therapeutic rather than personal. Behaviors such as excessive self-disclosure, accepting gifts, or socializing outside care can blur those limits and shift the focus away from the client. Maintaining clear boundaries protects both the client and the nurse and preserves the integrity of the relationship.
