Quarantine

Restricting the movement of exposed but asymptomatic people to limit spread.

Quarantine restricts the movement of people who have been exposed to a communicable disease but are not yet symptomatic, to limit spread during the incubation period. The key distinction for exams: quarantine separates the exposed-but-well, whereas isolation separates those already infected. It is a public-health tool deployed during outbreaks, and the nurse supports it through education, monitoring exposed individuals for symptoms, and reinforcing the duration needed to cover the disease’s incubation period.
