Anxiety
Apprehension without a clear cause; stay with the client, keep the environment calm, and use short simple sentences.
Anxiety is a feeling of apprehension, and its level changes how the client can function: mild anxiety actually sharpens learning, while severe or panic-level anxiety impairs perception and reasoning. Stay with a client in severe or panic-level anxiety, use a calm voice, and give short, simple directions. Reducing environmental stimuli and ensuring safety are the priorities at higher anxiety levels.
