Asepsis

Asepsis is the set of practices that reduce or eliminate microorganisms to prevent infection. Medical asepsis is clean technique — hand hygiene and a clean environment — used to limit the number of organisms, while surgical asepsis is sterile technique used for invasive procedures to keep an area completely free of organisms. Hand hygiene, a clean environment, and properly maintained sterile fields are the core asepsis measures.
