PPE

PPE (personal protective equipment) creates a barrier between the caregiver and infectious agents. Don it in order — gown, then mask or respirator, then goggles, then gloves — and doff in reverse, removing the contaminated gloves first. The correct sequence matters because it prevents the nurse from self-contaminating while taking equipment off, protecting both staff and client.
