Precautions

Precautions are the standard and transmission-based measures used to interrupt the chain of infection. Standard precautions apply to all clients regardless of diagnosis or suspected infection, while transmission-based precautions (contact, droplet, airborne) are added for specific organisms. The foundation is to treat all blood and body fluids as potentially infectious at every contact.
