Sharps

Needles, scalpels, and other objects that can puncture skin.

Sharps are needles, scalpels, lancets, and other objects that can puncture the skin and transmit bloodborne pathogens. Never recap a used needle; dispose of it directly into a puncture-resistant sharps container, and activate any built-in safety device. Needlestick injuries must be reported immediately and the source client tested per policy so post-exposure prophylaxis can be started if needed.
