Sepsis

Sepsis is life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by the body’s dysregulated response to infection, and it can progress rapidly to septic shock. Obtain blood cultures before starting broad-spectrum antibiotics, and give IV fluids early to support perfusion and blood pressure. The sepsis bundle emphasizes rapid recognition and time-sensitive treatment, because each hour of delay raises mortality.
