Droplet
A transmission route in which large respiratory particles >5 μm travel short distances (within 3 feet) through the air.
Droplets do not remain airborne for extended periods or distances, distinguishing them from true airborne pathogens. A surgical mask and eye protection are the standard PPE for droplet precautions.
