- Isolation Keeping an infectious client separate and wearing the barriers their precaution type requires.
- Precautions Standard precautions for every client, plus contact, droplet or airborne measures when the organism calls for them.
- Handwashing The single most effective way to stop infection spreading; soap and water is required for C. difficile and for visible soil.
- Restraints A last-resort device limiting movement; it requires a provider order, a time limit, and regular circulation and skin checks.
